Everything went according to plan in Zamora where fourth ranked Gernika (5-1) beat 8th ranked Zamarat (2-4) 74-65 on Saturday. The guests trailed by 2 points after first quarter, but they rallied back to get the 8-point lead at the halftime and eventually won the game 74-65. Gernika made 22-of-26 free shots (84.6 percent) during the game. They also forced 20 Zamarat turnovers. American point guard Adrianne Ross (173-84, college: TCU, agency: Regeneracom Sports) scored 16 points and 5 rebounds to lead the charge for the winners and Romanian forward Claudia Pop (182-89, agency: Josep and Nicolas) chipped in 18 points during the contest. Gernika's coach used a ten-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. The best for the losing side was Portuguese center Sofia Silva (187-90) with a double-double by scoring 13 points and 12 rebounds and Bosnian center Dragana Svitlica (190-88, agency: Josep and Nicolas) scored 18 points. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Gernika have a solid four-game winning streak. They keep a position of league leader, which they share with Avenida and Girona. Zamarat lost fourth consecutive game. They dropped to the tenth place with four games lost. Gernika will face Universitario de Ferrol (#8) at home in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Zamarat will play against Azkoitia in Azpeitia and hope to win that game.
