Very predictable result when third ranked Basket Landes (4-1) defeated on the road 9th ranked Nantes Reze (2-3) 78-68 on Saturday. The guests trailed by 7 points at the halftime before their 47-30 charge in the second half, which allowed them to win the game. Basket Landes made 22-of-26 free shots (84.6 percent) during the game. Nantes Reze was plagued by 25 personal fouls down the stretch. American-Dominican Carmen Guzman (172-85, college: UAB, agency: Merit Management Group) stepped up and scored 14 points, 5 rebounds and 7 assists for the winners and Croatian center Iva Sliskovic (190-84, college: S.Carolina) chipped in 13 points and 9 rebounds. Four Basket Landes players scored in double figures. Spanish swingman Queralt Casas (177-92) responded with 25 points and 9 rebounds and Latvian power forward Aija Putnina (191-88, agency: Josep and Nicolas) scored 17 points. Basket Landes maintains third place with 4-1 record behind leader Nice. Nantes Reze lost their third game in a row. They dropped to the eighth position with three games lost. Basket Landes will face Hainaut (#9) in Saint-Amand in the next round which should be theoretically an easy game. Nantes Reze will play on the road against Angers and hope to win that game.
