The game had a very big importance for third-ranked Ardoi as it allowed them to take a leadership position in Group A-A. Ardoi defeated 4th placed Valladolid Univ. in Zizur Mayor 88-80 in overtime. It was a key game for the top position in Group A-A. It looked good early as Valladolid Univ. took a 2-point small lead at the end of first quarter. But then Ardoi had a 21-17 second period charge getting the lead. Then Valladolid Univ. managed to tie the game at the end of regular time, but lost overtime period 9-17. They outrebounded Valladolid Univ. 50-28 including a 31-18 advantage in defensive rebounds. Naturalized Ukrainian forward Anton Savitski (196-86) nailed a double-double by scoring 30 points, 18 rebounds and 4 assists for the winning side and Rafael Antonio Matos accounted for 15 points. Four Ardoi players scored in double figures. Guard Ricardo Gomez (185-90) came up with 20 points and 6 rebounds and forward Pedro Gonzalez (195-89) added 16 points respectively for Valladolid Univ. in the defeat. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. As mentioned above they are at the top of the standings, which they share with Pielagos and Santurtzi. Valladolid Univ. at the other side keeps the fourth place with one game lost. They share the position with 7 other teams. Valladolid Univ. will play next round against Clavijo trying to get back on the winning streak. Ardoi will try to continue on its current victory against ninth ranked Mondragon on the road.
