Regular Season Round 10: Kanazawa Samuraiz - Oita H.Devils 106-88

Not a big story in a game in Ishikawa where 11th ranked Oita Heat Devils (1-6) were defeated by ninth ranked Kanazawa Samuraiz (3-5) 106-88 on Sunday. The hosts trailed by 1 point after first quarter, but they stormed back to get the 3-point lead at the halftime and eventually won the game 106-88. Kanazawa Samuraiz dominated down low during the game scoring 66 of its points in the paint compared to Oita Heat Devils' 42. Kanazawa Samuraiz forced 19 Oita Heat Devils turnovers and outrebounded them 41-30 including 17 on the offensive glass. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists. American-Panamanian forward Gyno Pomare (203-86, college: San Diego) fired a double-double by scoring 16 points, 15 rebounds and 6 assists for the winners. American power forward Andrew Fitzgerald (202-90, college: Oklahoma) chipped in 24 points and 9 rebounds. Five Kanazawa Samuraiz players scored in double figures. Kanazawa Samuraiz's coach Yukinori Suzuki used entire bench which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. American forward Patrick Simon (203-92, college: Seattle Pacific) produced a double-double by scoring 24 points and 12 rebounds and guard Toshino Tatsuhiko (185-88) added 24 points and 6 rebounds respectively for lost side. Kanazawa Samuraiz moved-up to eighth place, which they share with Iwate Big Bulls and Yokohama BC. Oita Heat Devils lost fifth consecutive game. They dropped to the tenth position with six games lost. Kanazawa Samuraiz will face Hiroshima L. (#10) on the road in the next round. Oita Heat Devils will play against Hamamatsu Phoenix and hope to win that game.
