There was a minor upset when 4th placed Empoli (3-2) was defeated on the road by ninth ranked Catanzaro (3-2) 65-52 on Sunday. Guard Gianluca Carpanzano (188-95) stepped up and scored 23 points and 9 rebounds for the winners and power forward Davide Naso (200-84) chipped in 12 points and 9 rebounds. Forward Matteo Samoggia (196-90) responded with 14 points and 5 rebounds and Gianni Terrosi (191-89) scored 14 points. Catanzaro moved-up to fifth place in B, which they share with 3 other teams including defeated Empoli. Catanzaro will face Roma S.Azzurra (#9) on the road in the next round. Empoli will play against the league's leader Roma E-basket (#1) and hope to win that game.
