Regular Season Round 5: Porto S.Elpidio - Monteroni 84-87

Very expected game when 10th ranked Porto S.Elpidio (2-3) was edged at home by fifth ranked Monteroni (4-1) 87-84 on Sunday. Monteroni made 16-of-20 free shots (80.0 percent) during the game. Center Manuele Mocavero (203-80) stepped up and scored 40 points (!!!) for the winners and naturalized Dominican guard Yancarlos Jefferson Rodriguez (195-94) chipped in 27 points, 8 rebounds, 4 assists and 4 steals. Guard Francesco Boffini (185-85) responded with 27 points and forward Lorenzo Tortu (200-92) scored 22 points and 6 rebounds (was perfect 7-for-7 from the free throw line). Monteroni moved-up to second place in B, which they share with Bergamo and Crema. Loser Porto S.Elpidio dropped to the ninth position with three games lost. Monteroni will face league's second-placed Montegrano in Montenegrano in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Porto S.Elpidio will play on the road against the league's leader Falconara (#1) and hope to win that game.
