An interesting game where Maccabi Ramat Hen crushed host Hapoel Rishon Le-Zion with 38-point difference 85-47 on Monday evening. Maccabi Ramat Hen made 27-of-31 free shots (87.1 percent) during the game. They also forced 24 Hapoel Rishon Le-Zion turnovers and outrebounded them 43-26 including 30 on the defensive glass. American forward Kayla Thornton (185-92, college: UTEP) stepped up with a double-double by scoring 26 points and 14 rebounds for the winners and her fellow American import guard Rebekah Gardner (185-90, college: UCLA) chipped in 15 points, 11 rebounds and 4 assists. Five Maccabi Ramat Hen players scored in double figures. At the losing side American Ashley Shields (180-85, college: SW Tenn.St.CC) responded with 12 points and 8 rebounds and Puerto Rican-American point guard Jennifer O'Neill (168-90, college: Kentucky) scored 10 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists. Maccabi Ramat Hen will meet at home Ramat Hasharon in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Hapoel Rishon Le-Zion will play against Elitzur Holon and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
