Regular Season Round 5: Bayi - Jiangsu 78-72

The game between third ranked Jiangsu Phoenix (2-3) and fourth ranked Bayi Kylin (3-2) was the most important one in the last round on Tuesday night. Jiangsu Phoenix was defeated by Bayi Kylin in a tough game in Yinzhou 72-78. It was a key game for the second position in the league. Jiangsu Phoenix trailed by 11 points after 3 quarters before a 26-21 run in the last quarter cut the deficit to 72-78 at the end of the game. International center Mengran Sun (197-92) stepped up with a double-double by scoring 23 points and 11 rebounds for the winners and international center Liting Zhang (199-94) chipped in 16 points and 6 rebounds. Four Bayi Kylin players scored in double figures. Jessica Bulan responded with a double-double by scoring 19 points and 10 rebounds and Yang Chen scored 14 points and 7 rebounds. Bayi Kylin have a solid series of three victories in a row. They moved-up to second place, which they share with Beijing and Shanxi. Jiangsu Phoenix at the other side dropped to the fourth position with three games lost. They share it with 3 other teams. Bayi Kylin is looking forward to face league's second-placed Shanghai Octopus at home in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Jiangsu Phoenix will play against Shandong and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
