Regular Season Round 7: Helsinki Seagulls - Kataja Basket 72-59

The game between second ranked Joensuun Kataja (4-3) and eighth ranked Helsinki Seagulls (3-4) was the most important one in the last round on Friday night. Joensuun Kataja was defeated by Helsinki Seagulls in Helsinki 59-72. The game was mostly controlled by Helsinki Seagulls. Joensuun Kataja managed to win third quarter 25-22. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Helsinki Seagulls made 19-of-24 free shots (79.2 percent) during the game. Worth to mention a great performance of the former international Carl Lindbom (206-91) who helped to win the game recording 16 points and 7 rebounds. American guard Jason Conley (196-81, college: Missouri, agency: Warren Sports International) contributed with 6 points and 16 rebounds for the winners. Conley is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. Four Helsinki Seagulls players scored in double figures. Tommi Huolila (198-93) answered with 11 points and 5 rebounds and American Trevis Simpson (193-91, college: NC-Greensboro, agency: Three Eye Sports) added 9 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists in the effort for Joensuun Kataja. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Helsinki Seagulls moved-up to seventh place, which they share with Lapua. Defending champion Joensuun Kataja keeps the second position with three games lost. They share it with Pyrinto and Kauhajoki. Helsinki Seagulls is looking forward to face Lapuan Korikobrat (#8) on the road in the next round. Joensuun Kataja will play against Loimaan Korikonkarit (#5) and is hoping to win this game.
