There was an upset when higher ranked Tenerife Naut. (2-1) lost on the road to eleventh ranked Alcobendas (1-2) 86-78 on Saturday. Tenerife Naut. trailed by 12 points after 3 quarters before a 27-23 run in the last quarter cut the deficit to 78-86 at the end of the game. Tenerife Naut. was plagued by 29 personal fouls down the stretch. It was a good game for center Jose Maria Gil (207-91) who led his team to a victory with 15 points and 8 rebounds. Center Jorge Tejera (200-92) contributed with 14 points and 6 rebounds (on 6-of-7 shooting from the field) for the winners. Forward Niang Sergine (200-88) replied with a double-double by scoring 11 points and 11 rebounds and Swedish point guard Valter Lindstrom (180-95) added 19 points in the effort for Tenerife Naut.Four Alcobendas and five Tenerife Naut. players scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Alcobendas left bottom position moving up to ninth place in Group B, which they share with 3 other teams. Loser Tenerife Naut. dropped to the second position with one game lost. Alcobendas will face league's second-placed Real Madrid II on the road in the next round and they do not belong to the favorites in that game. Tenerife Naut. will play against Azuqueca and hope to win that game.
