Regular Season Round 11: Gunma - Iwate Big Bulls 80-81

A very close game took place in Gunma between Iwate Big Bulls and Gunma. Eighth ranked Iwate Big Bulls (4-5) got a very close victory on the road over 6th ranked Gunma (4-5). Iwate Big Bulls managed to escape with a 1-point win 81-80 in the fight for the sixth place. The guests trailed by 3 points at the halftime before their 19-14 charge in the third quarter, which allowed them to win the game. Iwate Big Bulls forced 21 Gunma turnovers and had a 22-11 advantage in offensive rebounds. It was an exceptional evening for Nigerian forward Abdullahi Kuso (206-84, college: Tallahassee CC) who led the winners with a double-double by scoring 16 points and 19 rebounds. American forward Alandise Harris (198-90, college: Arkansas) accounted for 22 points and 6 rebounds for the winning side. Iwate Big Bulls' coach Geoffrey Katsuhisa used an eleven-player rotation in such tough game. American forward Thomas Kennedy (201-87, college: Detroit Mercy) came up with 23 points and 8 rebounds and the other American import power forward Mike St.John (203-84, college: La Salle, agency: Global Sports Plaza) added 13 points and 8 rebounds respectively for Gunma in the defeat. Four Gunma players scored in double figures. Iwate Big Bulls moved-up to sixth place, which they share with 3 other teams including defeated Gunma. Iwate Big Bulls will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Gunma will play again against Iwate Big Bulls (#6) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
