Rather expected game when bottom-ranked Bolzano (0-4) was edged on the road by eighth ranked San Salvatore (3-1) 57-55 on Saturday. The hosts trailed by 2 points at the halftime before their 22-13 charge in the third quarter, which allowed them to win the game. San Salvatore forced 21 Bolzano turnovers. Quite impressive performance for Slovenian power forward Ana Ljubenovic (185-88) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 16 points and 16 rebounds. Forward Giorgia Manfrc (183-92) contributed with 14 points and 6 rebounds for the winners. Four San Salvatore players scored in double figures. Guard Elena Zambarda (180-87) replied with 18 points and 7 rebounds and Polish-French center Karolina Piotrkiewicz (190-84, college: Liberty) added 5 points and 13 rebounds in the effort for Bolzano. San Salvatore moved-up to sixth place in A2. Newly promoted Bolzano still closes the standings with four games lost. San Salvatore will face Marghera (#11) in Venezia in the next round where they are favorite. Bolzano will play on the road against Scrivia and looks forward to get finally their first victory.
