Regular Season Round 6: Masnou - Sant Nicolau 79-71

Everything could happen in Barcelona at the game between two tied teams. Both fifth ranked Masnou and 6th ranked Sant Nicolau had identical 2-3 record. This time Masnou used a home court advantage and defeated the opponent from Sabadell 79-71 on Saturday night. The hosts took control from the first minutes by winning first half. But Sant Nicolau won third quarter 17-12. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. The game was decided in the last minutes when Masnou won last quarter 26-19. They also forced 21 Sant Nicolau turnovers. It was a good game for forward Jaume Solans (197-91) who led his team to a victory with 14 points and 5 rebounds. Forward Francisco Jimenez (201-84) contributed with 9 points and 9 rebounds for the winners. Four Masnou players scored in double figures. Guard Xavier Esteve (187-90) replied with 11 points and 5 rebounds and Finnish Ikka Maki (191-94) added 13 points in the effort for Sant Nicolau. Both coaches used bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Masnou (3-3) moved-up to fourth place in Group C-A, which they share with JAC Sants. Sant Nicolau lost fourth consecutive game. They dropped to the seventh position with four games lost. Masnou's supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will travel locally in Barcelona to the arena JAC Sants.
