Regular Season Round 4: 36ers - Taipans 101-104

Important game to mention about took place in Findon. Seventh ranked Cairns Taipans (3-4) saved a 3-point victory on the road edging higher ranked Adelaide 36ers (3-3) 104-101 on Saturday evening. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Adelaide 36ers. The guests took control from the first minutes by winning first half. But Adelaide 36ers won fourth quarter 33-28. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Cairns Taipans players were unselfish on offense dishing 21 assists. Worth to mention a great performance of American point guard Markel Starks (188-91, college: Georgetown) who helped to win the game recording 27 points and the other American import forward Torrey Craig (198-90, college: USC Upstate) who added 19 points during the contest. Cairns Taipans' coach Aaron Fearne allowed to play the deep bench players in such tough game. At the losing side the former international power forward Daniel Johnson (210-88, college: Pepperdine) responded with a double-double by scoring 29 points and 14 rebounds and American-Ukrainian point guard Jerome Randle (175-87, college: California) scored 25 points, 6 rebounds and 9 assists. Four Cairns Taipans and five Adelaide 36ers players scored in double figures. Cairns Taipans moved-up to fifth place, which they share with Hawks. Adelaide 36ers at the other side keep the third position with three games lost. They share it with Breakers. Cairns Taipans will play against Illawarra Hawks (#6) in Gwynneville in the next round. Adelaide 36ers will play at home against Kings and hope to get back on the winning track.
