Very expected game in San Sebastian where 12th ranked Gipuzkoa UPV (2-5) was defeated by second ranked Argon Uni Girona (6-1) 67-58. It looked good early as Gipuzkoa UPV took a 4-point small lead at the end of first quarter. But then Argon Uni Girona had a 21-15 second period charge getting the lead and Gipuzkoa UPV was not able to take back game control losing it eventually 58-67. It was an exceptional evening for American guard Chelsea Gray (180-92, college: Duke) who led the winners and scored 20 points. Mali-French center Naignouma Coulibaly (191-89, agency: Regeneracom Sports) accounted for 10 points and 9 rebounds for the winning side. Four Argon Uni Girona players scored in double figures. American center Cierra Bravard (193-89, college: Florida St., agency: Josep and Nicolas) came up with a double-double by scoring 16 points and 10 rebounds and point guard Maria Gomez (170-82) added 5 points, 5 rebounds and 9 assists respectively for Gipuzkoa UPV in the defeat. The victory was the sixth consecutive win for Argon Uni Girona. Defending champion keeps a position of league leader, which they share with Avenida and Gernika. Gipuzkoa UPV lost their third game in a row. They keep the twelfth place with five games lost. Argon Uni Girona's next round opponent will be Conquero (#4) in Huelva. Gipuzkoa UPV will play on the road against CREF Hola (#9) in Madrid and hope to win that game.
