We cannot really consider it an upset in the game between close teams when 6th ranked Banska Bystrica (3-7) was defeated at home by seventh ranked BAM Poprad (3-7) 59-46 on Saturday. The game was mostly controlled by BAM Poprad. Banska Bystrica managed to win second period 12-9. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. BAM Poprad had a 29-18 advantage in offensive rebounds. Power forward Lucia Hadacova (190-95) had a double-double by scoring 16 points and 11 rebounds (on 7-of-9 shooting from the field) to lead the charge for the winners and power forward Katarina Petrikova (182-80) chipped in 13 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists during the contest. At the losing side forward Miroslava Mistinova (182-97) responded with 18 points and 6 rebounds and guard Radka Stasova (168-97) scored 10 points. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. BAM Poprad moved-up to sixth place, which they share with defeated Banska Bystrica. Banska Bystrica lost fourth consecutive game. BAM Poprad will meet at home higher ranked MBK Ruzomberok (#3) in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Banska Bystrica will play against Cassovia K. and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
