Regular Season Round 4: Canberra - Melbourne 63-91
Date: October 31, 2015
Not a big story in a game when bottom-ranked Canberra Capitals (0-6) were rolled over at home by seventh ranked Boomers (3-2) 91-63 on Saturday. The game without a history. Boomers led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They dominated down low during the game scoring 64 of its points in the paint compared to Canberra Capitals' 40. Boomers forced 20 Canberra Capitals turnovers and outrebounded them 47-32 including 18 on the offensive glass. Worth to mention a great performance of the former international center Elyse Penaluna (193-88) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 13 points, 14 rebounds and 5 assists and the former international swingman Tess Madgen (180-90) who added 20 points and 5 assists during the contest. Four Boomers players scored in double figures. At the losing side the former international center Abby Bishop (189-88) responded with 21 points and 8 rebounds (made all of her seven free throws) and the former international guard Stephanie Talbot (188-94) scored 6 points and 12 rebounds. Boomers moved-up to third place, which they share with 4 other teams. Loser Canberra Capitals still closes the standings with six games lost. Boomers will face league's leader SEQ in Crestmead in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Canberra Capitals will play on the road against Sydney Uni Flames (#5) and hope to get finally their first victory.
