Regular Season Round 9: Tromso - Baerum Basket 82-72

The game had a very big importance for second-ranked Tromso as it allowed them to take a leadership position. Tromso defeated 3rd placed Baerum Basket at home 82-72. It ended at the same time the three-game winning streak of Baerum Basket. The hosts trailed by 2 points after first quarter, but they rallied back to get the 3-point lead at the halftime and eventually won the game 82-72. Tromso dominated down low during the game scoring 54 of its points in the paint compared to Baerum Basket's 26. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 24 assists comparing to just 9 passes made by Baerum Basket's players. It was a good game for Bulgarian guard Kiril Raykov (192-87) who led his team to a victory with 31 points, 7 rebounds and 6 assists (on 13-of-17 shooting from the field). American point guard Charlie Lee (175-92, college: Cleveland St.) contributed with 27 points and 4 assists for the winners. Tromso's coach Kenneth Webb used entire bench which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. American forward Mike Bruesewitz (201-90, college: Wisconsin) answered with a double-double by scoring 34 points (!!!) and 16 rebounds and point guard Stian Mjos (183-89) added 13 points and 4 assists in the effort for Baerum Basket. Tromso (5-0) have an impressive series of five victories in a row. As mentioned above they are alone now at the top position. Baerum Basket at the other side keeps the third place with three games lost. Baerum Basket will play next round against Centrum trying to get back on the winning streak. Tromso will try to continue on its current victory against fifth ranked Kongsberg at home.
