Regular Season Round 6: HyPo - FoA 65-75
Date: November 1, 2015
We cannot really consider it an upset in the game between close teams in Hyvinkaa where one of their biggest challengers HyPo (3-2) was defeated by fifth ranked Forssan Alku (4-3) 75-65 on Sunday. The game was mostly controlled by Forssan Alku. HyPo managed to win second period 14-12. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. The game was decided in the last minutes when Forssan Alku won last quarter 22-14. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when Forssan Alku made 7 blocks. American forward Crystal Leary (185-92, college: W.Virginia) had a double-double by scoring 15 points and 11 rebounds to lead the charge for the winners and the other American import guard Precious Bridges (165-92, college: Mercer) chipped in 19 points during the contest. Four Forssan Alku players scored in double figures. Forssan Alku's coach Jari Marjamaki used entire bench and allowed the starting five to rest. The best for the losing side was American guard Bria Goss (178-92, college: Kentucky, agency: Merit Management Group) with a double-double by scoring 16 points, 12 rebounds and 7 assists and the former international swingman Henna Salomaa (177-89, college: Oakland) scored 15 points. Forssan Alku have a solid three-game winning streak. They moved-up to fourth place. Loser HyPo dropped to the fifth position with two games lost. Forssan Alku will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. HyPo will play against ViVe (#3) in Vimpeli and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
