The game between closely ranked teams ended with 3rd placed UCAM Jairis' (3-2) home loss to leader Sant Adria (5-0) in Alcantarilla 62-72 on Sunday. UCAM Jairis was trailing by 4 points at halftime but managed to get 5-point lead after three quarters before a 20-5 charge of Sant Adria, which allowed them to win the game. They dominated on the defensive end, holding UCAM Jairis to just 5 points in fourth quarter. Sant Adria forced 21 UCAM Jairis turnovers. Strangely UCAM Jairis outrebounded Sant Adria 44-29 including a 18-7 advantage in offensive rebounds. Power forward Marta Claret (185-92) orchestrated the victory by scoring 16 points and 7 rebounds. Swingman Itziar Llobet (180-93, college: Kent St., agency: Regeneracom Sports) contributed with 16 points for the winners. Power forward Isabel Perez (188-90) answered with a double-double by scoring 12 points and 14 rebounds and point guard Isabel Latorre (169-96) added 15 points, 5 rebounds and 6 assists in the effort for UCAM Jairis. The victory was the fifth consecutive win for Sant Adria. They keep a position of Group B leader, which they share with Alcobendas. Loser UCAM Jairis keeps the third place with two games lost. Sant Adria will face IF Air Europa (#5) in S'Arenal in the next round. UCAM Jairis will play on the road against Leganes and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
