Regular Season Round 5: Valladolid - Sammic ISB 79-70

We should mention about the upset which took place in Valladolid, where higher ranked Sammic ISB (3-2) lost to twelfth ranked Blancos de Rueda (2-3) in a road game 70-79. It ended at the same time the three-game winning streak of Sammic ISB. The hosts were ahead by 2 points but lost the second period ending it with a 2-point deficit before their 27-16 run, which allowed them to win the game. Blancos de Rueda outrebounded Sammic ISB 43-31 including 32 on the defensive glass. Center Sergio De La Fuente (198-89) nailed a double-double by scoring 27 points and 17 rebounds for the winning side and Venezuelan swingman Francisco Centeno (201-85) accounted for 22 points. French-American forward Jordan Semple (201-92, college: Chico St.) came up with a double-double by scoring 20 points, 13 rebounds, 4 assists and 4 blocks and guard Ruben Gutierrez (192-95) added 13 points respectively for Sammic ISB in the defeat. Sammic ISB's coach Iker Bueno let to play eleven players, but that didn't help to avoid defeat in this game. Blancos de Rueda moved-up to sixth place, which they share with 6 other teams. Sammic ISB at the other side keeps the fifth position with two games lost. Blancos de Rueda's next round opponent will be Clinicas Rincon (#12) in Malaga which should be theoretically an easy game. Sammic ISB will play at home against the league's second-placed CB Granada (#2) and hope to win that game.
