Regular Season Round 4: Maccabi K/G - Maccabi Haifa 81-86

Very expected game in Kiryat Gat where 9th ranked Maccabi K/G (1-3) was defeated by fourth ranked Maccabi Haifa (3-1) 86-81 on Monday. The guests trailed by 3 points after first quarter, but they rallied back to get the 11-point lead at the halftime and eventually won the game 86-81. Maccabi Haifa made 16-of-21 free shots (76.2 percent) during the game. Worth to mention a great performance of Venezuelan point guard Gregory Vargas (180-86, agency: Pro Sports) who helped to win the game recording 25 points, 8 assists and 4 steals and international forward Oz Blayzer (199-92) who added 12 points and 10 rebounds during the contest. Maccabi Haifa's coach Rami Hadar used a ten-player rotation in such tough game. At the losing side the former international point guard Meir Tapiro (192-75, agency: Avi Zilberman) responded with 17 points and 9 rebounds and American point guard Paul Delaney (188-86, college: UAB) scored 17 points, 6 assists and 4 steals. Maccabi Haifa moved-up to second place, which they share with 3 other teams. Newly promoted Maccabi K/G dropped to the bottom position with three games lost. Maccabi Haifa will face Bnei Hasharon (#7) in Hod Hasharon in the next round where they are favorite. Maccabi K/G will play on the road against Ironi Nahariya (#5) and hope to win that game.
