Regular Season Round 4: Maccabi Ashdod - Hapoel Eilat 93-82

Maccabi Ashdod has registered their first victory this season after three consecutive loses. The win is especially important as they defeated much higher ranked Hapoel Eilat (1-3) 93-82 on Monday. Hapoel Eilat was tied after three quarters but could not keep up in the last quarter eventually losing the game. They outrebounded Hapoel Eilat 43-28 including 28 on the defensive glass. American point guard Isaiah Swann (188-85, college: Florida St.) fired 34 points (!!!) and 9 assists for the winners. The other American import power forward Charles Thomas (203-86, college: Arkansas) chipped in 25 points. Maccabi Ashdod's coach Zvi Sherf used an eleven-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Nigerian power forward Alade Aminu (210-87, college: Georgia Tech, agency: Three Eye Sports) produced 18 points and 9 rebounds (on 7-of-9 shooting from the field) and American Kevin Palmer (198-87, college: Texas A&M-CC, agency: Comsport) added 19 points and 7 rebounds respectively for lost side. Five Hapoel Eilat players scored in double figures. Maccabi Ashdod left bottom position moving up to seventh place, which they share with 5 other teams including defeated Hapoel Eilat. Maccabi Ashdod will meet higher ranked Maccabi T-A (#4) in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Hapoel Eilat will play against Hapoel Tel-Aviv and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
