Regular Season Round 7: Shanghai - Shandong 88-80

Bottom-ranked Shandong is still unable to win any game. But it was rather predictable considering how strong their opponent was. This time they lost on the road their seventh consecutive match to second ranked Shanghai Dahua (6-1) 88-80 on Tuesday evening. Shandong trailed by 13 points after 3 quarters before a 27-22 run in the last quarter cut the deficit to 80-88 at the end of the game. Shanghai Dahua shot 61.5 percent from the field and made 18-of-21 free shots (85.7 percent) during the game. It was a very good performance for Australian center Elizabeth Cambage (203-91) who helped to win the game recording 36 points (!!!) and 7 rebounds (perfect from the field making all fifteen shots !!!). International forward Jing Huang (183-85) contributed with 18 points for the winners. Forward Shuo Wang (184-93) answered with 20 points and 5 rebounds and the former international power forward Xiao Ji (193-85) added 24 points in the effort for Shandong. Shanghai Dahua have a solid series of four victories in a row. They keep a position of league leader, which they share with Guangdong. Newly promoted Shandong still closes the standings with seven games lost. Shanghai Dahua will face league's leader Guangdong Dolphins in Guangzhou in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Shandong will play at home against Bayi Kylin (#3) and looks forward to get finally their first victory.
