Regular Season Round 5: Crocodiles - Wildcats 89-77

Very important is a road loss of second ranked Perth Wildcats (5-3) against seventh ranked Townsville Crocodiles (3-7) on Wednesday night. Visiting Perth Wildcats were defeated by Townsville Crocodiles in Wulguru 89-77. The hosts trailed by 10 points after first quarter, but they stormed back and won the game by 12 points. Townsville Crocodiles made 28-of-35 free shots (80.0 percent) during the game, while Perth Wildcats only scored twelve points from the stripe. Townsville Crocodiles forced 19 Perth Wildcats turnovers. The best player for the winners was American guard Jordair Jett (188-91, college: St.Louis) who scored 24 points and 5 assists (on 8-of-10 shooting from the field). International swingman Clint Steindl (200-89, college: St.Mary's, CA) chipped in 15 points and 8 rebounds. The former international forward Jesse Wagstaff (203-86, college: Metro St.) produced 17 points and the former international power forward Matthew Knight (204-85, college: Loyola Mary) added 12 points and 5 rebounds respectively for the guests. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Townsville Crocodiles maintains seventh place with 3-7 record. Perth Wildcats at the other side keep the second position with three games lost. Townsville Crocodiles will meet higher ranked Adelaide 36ers (#4) in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Perth Wildcats will play against New Zealand Breakers in Auckland and hope to secure a win.
