The most crucial game of the last round was a loss of Universo/Vitoria (0-1) in Salvador on Wednesday night. Hosts were defeated by Sao Jose/Vinac (1-0) 68-60. The guests took control from the first minutes by winning first half. But Universo/Vitoria won third quarter 18-17. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Sao Jose/Vinac forced 23 Universo/Vitoria turnovers. Worth to mention a great performance of Pedro Lima (191-87) who helped to win the game recording 25 points. American point guard Jamaal Smith (175-85, college: N.Mexico) contributed with 15 points and 6 rebounds for the winners. American guard Jason Smith (183-83, college: Al.-Huntsville) answered with 18 points and center Renan Leichtweis (211-89) added 13 points and 7 rebounds in the effort for Universo/Vitoria. Sao Jose/Vinac is looking forward to face SKY/Basquete in Aldeota in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Universo/Vitoria will play at home against Mogi and is hoping to prove to their supporters that the loss was just an accident.
