Regular Season Round 5: Kings - United 94-105

NBL top team - United (9-0) managed to deliver another win. This time they beat eighth ranked Kings (2-7) in Sydney 105-94. The game was mostly controlled by United. Kings was better in second period 25-24. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. The former international guard Chris Goulding (192-88) orchestrated the victory by scoring 31 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists. American guard Stephen Holt (193-91, college: St.Mary's, CA) contributed with 23 points for the winners. United's coach Dean Demopoulos used a ten-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. American guard Marcus Thornton (193-93, college: William & Mary) answered with 25 points and the other American import forward Al Harrington (206-80) added 20 points in the effort for Kings. Five United and four Kings players scored in double figures. The victory was the ninth consecutive win for United. They maintain first place with 9-0 record. Kings lost their third game in a row. They stay at the bottom position with seven games lost. United's next round opponent will be Cairns Taipans (#6) on the road which should be theoretically an easy game. Kings will play against Adelaide 36ers and hope to win that game.
