Pioneros (4-1) recorded its first loss in Mexicali on Thursday night. Visitors were edged by fourth ranked Soles (4-1) 81-78. It ended at the same time the four-game winning streak of Pioneros. They outrebounded Pioneros 43-29 including 31 on the defensive glass. The best player for the winners was American guard Luke Martinez (193-90, college: Wyoming) who had a double-double by scoring 14 points, 10 rebounds and 4 assists. International Roman Martinez (201-88, college: N.Mexico) chipped in 16 points and 6 rebounds. International center Adam Parada (213-81, college: Cal-Irvine) produced 15 points and 9 rebounds and American-Puerto Rican point guard Denis Clemente (183-86, college: Kansas St.) added 16 points respectively for the guests. Four Soles and five Pioneros players scored in double figures. Soles moved-up to second place, which they share with Abejas and Pioneros. Soles is again looking forward to face Pioneros (#4) in Cancun in the next round. Pioneros will have a break next round.
