Regular Season Round 8: Henan - Jiangsu 83-94

The game between closely ranked teams ended with 5th ranked Henan's (2-6) home loss to fourth ranked Jiangsu Phoenix (4-4) 83-94 on Thursday. The game was mostly controlled by Jiangsu Phoenix. Henan was better in fourth quarter 26-15. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Jiangsu Phoenix dominated down low during the game scoring 70 of its points in the paint compared to Henan's 46. Jiangsu Phoenix forced 20 Henan turnovers. Worth to mention a great performance of American forward Jessica Breland (190-88, college: N.Carolina) who helped to win the game recording 28 points and 8 rebounds (on 14-of-15 shooting from the field) and international point guard Xiaojia Chen (177-88) who added 11 points and 7 assists during the contest. Forward Yang Wang (182-90) responded with a double-double by scoring 19 points, 10 rebounds and 4 assists and American forward Tianna Hawkins (191-91, college: Maryland) produced a double-double by scoring 16 points and 10 rebounds. Four Jiangsu Phoenix and five Henan players scored in double figures. Jiangsu Phoenix moved-up to third place, which they share with Shenyang and Shanxi. Henan lost fourth consecutive game. They keep the fifth position with six games lost. Jiangsu Phoenix will face league's leader Shanghai Dahua at home in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Henan will play against Shandong (#6) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
