Regular Season Round 5: Wildcats - Crocodiles 85-77

Very expected game when 7th ranked Townsville Crocodiles (3-7) were defeated on the road by second ranked Perth Wildcats (5-3) 85-77 on Friday. Townsville Crocodiles trailed by 12 points after 3 quarters before a 28-24 run in the last quarter cut the deficit to 77-85 at the end of the game. Perth Wildcats looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. Townsville Crocodiles were plagued by 25 personal fouls down the stretch. The former international power forward Nathan Jawai (209-86, college: Midland CC) stepped up and scored 11 points, 6 rebounds and 7 assists for the winners and American forward Casey Prather (196-91, college: Florida) chipped in 15 points and 5 rebounds. Five Perth Wildcats players scored in double figures. American forward Brian Conklin (198-89, college: St.Louis) responded with a double-double by scoring 11 points and 11 rebounds and forward Mitch Young (206-90, college: St.Mary's, CA) scored 8 points and 11 rebounds. Perth Wildcats maintains second place with 5-3 record having five points less than leader United. Loser Townsville Crocodiles keep the seventh position with seven games lost. Perth Wildcats will face New Zealand Breakers (#5) in Auckland in the next round. Townsville Crocodiles will play on the road against Adelaide 36ers in Findon and hope to win that game.
