Regular Season Round 2: B.Cearense - S.Jose/Unimed 80-91
Date: November 6, 2015
Very significant was Sao Jose/Vinac's (#4) 91-80 road victory against SKY/Basquete. The game was mostly controlled by Sao Jose/Vinac. SKY/Basquete was better in third quarter 36-23. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. The game was decided in the last minutes when Sao Jose/Vinac won last quarter 24-14. They also forced 21 SKY/Basquete turnovers. Strangely SKY/Basquete outrebounded Sao Jose/Vinac 44-28 including a 17-6 advantage in offensive rebounds. Power forward Renato Carbonari (206-87) notched 20 points and 8 rebounds to lead the effort and American point guard Jamaal Smith (175-85, college: N.Mexico) supported him with 14 points and 8 assists. Even 17 points and 8 rebounds by the former international Audrei Parisotto (196-84) did not help to save the game for SKY/Basquete. The former international guard Eduardo Machado (193-82) added 11 points, 6 rebounds and 9 assists for the hosts. Five Sao Jose/Vinac and four SKY/Basquete players scored in double figures. Sao Jose/Vinac will play against Pinheiros (#4) in Sao Paolo in the next round. SKY/Basquete will play on the road against Paulistano in Sao Paolo and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
