Regular Season Round 2: Pinheiros - Brasilia 68-93

The most crucial game of the last round was a loss of Pinheiros (1-1) in Sao Paolo on Friday night. Hosts were rolled over by Brasilia (2-0) 93-68. The game was mostly controlled by Brasilia. Pinheiros managed to win third quarter 20-12. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Brasilia forced 19 Pinheiros turnovers. They shot the lights out from three sinking 12 long-distance shots on high 57.1 percentage. International Guilherme Giovannoni (203-80, agency: Interperformances) scored 23 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists (was perfect 8-for-8 from the free throw line) to lead the charge for the winners and the former international point guard Fulvio de Assis (188-81) chipped in 11 points and 6 assists during the contest. Four Brasilia players scored in double figures. American guard Desmond Holloway (191-90, college: Co.Carolina) responded with 11 points and 5 rebounds and point guard Humberto Gomes (195-95) scored 11 points. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Brasilia is looking forward to face Paschoalotto/Bauru (#13) at home in the next round which should be another easy win for them. Pinheiros will play against Sao Jose/Vinac (#2) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
