Regular Season Round 8: Pogon Prudnik - Astoria Bydg. 87-81

Very expected game when 9th ranked Astoria Bydg. (3-5) was defeated on the road by fourth ranked Pogon Prudnik (5-3) 87-81. However just six-point win is not that big difference and the fans of host team counted on more convincing victory. Pogon Prudnik players were unselfish on offense dishing 22 assists. 24 personal fouls committed by Astoria Bydg. helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. The winners were led by Pawel Bogdanowicz (197-87) who scored that evening 16 points and 5 rebounds and guard Grzegorz Mordzak (182-77) supported him with 14 points and 5 assists. Even 14 points and 6 assists by Piotr Robak (194-91) did not help to save the game for Astoria Bydg.. Dorian Szyttenholm (193-83, agency: Promotex) added 16 points and 5 rebounds (on 7-of-8 shooting from the field) for the guests. Five Pogon Prudnik and four Astoria Bydg. players scored in double figures. Astoria Bydg.'s coach Przemyslaw Gierszewski rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Pogon Prudnik maintains fourth position with 5-3 record, which they share with 3 other teams. Astoria Bydg. at the other side keeps the ninth place with five games lost. Pogon Prudnik's next round opponent will be Nysa Klodzko (#15) in Kloszko which should be an easy win for them. Astoria Bydg. will play at home against SKK Siedlce (#12) and hope to win that game.
