Regular Season Round 6: Killester - Swords Thunder 70-82

Very important is a home loss of third ranked Killester (4-2) against sixth ranked Swords Thunder (3-3) on Saturday night. Host Killester was defeated by Swords Thunder in Dublin 82-70. It ended at the same time the three-game winning streak of Killester. Swords Thunder made 23-of-23 free shots (100 percent !!!) during the game. They also forced 20 Killester turnovers. The former international point guard Isaac Westbrooks (189-85) scored 18 points, 5 rebounds, 7 assists and 4 steals to lead the charge for the winners and American forward Dan Nelms (206, college: Davidson) chipped in 14 points and 11 rebounds during the contest. The best for the losing side was naturalized American forward Jermaine Turner (195-74, college: Dowling) with a double-double by scoring 25 points, 17 rebounds and 4 blocks and forward Alan Casey (191-89) scored 10 points and 6 rebounds. Killester's coach Brian O'Malley rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Swords Thunder moved-up to fifth place, which they share with UL Eagles. Loser Killester keeps the third position with two games lost. They share it with UCD Marian. Swords Thunder will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Killester's supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will face at home their local rival from Dublin Eanna.
