Regular Season Round 6: Moron - Zornotza 71-76

Another upset was a game between Moron (4-2) and Zornotza (3-3), which took place in Morón de la Frontera. Higher ranked Moron lost at home to tenth ranked Zornotza 71-76 on Saturday. The guests took control from the first minutes by winning first half. But Moron won third quarter 24-16. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Moron was plagued by 24 personal fouls down the stretch. It was a good game for swingman Ander Garcia (194-89) who led his team to a victory with 21 points and 5 rebounds. Guard Ander Arruti (189-90) contributed with 25 points for the winners. Guard Alejandro Marin (190-88) replied with 23 points and 5 rebounds and American forward Mike Phillips (201-91, college: Howard) added 16 points and 6 rebounds in the effort for Moron. Both coaches allowed to play bench players in such tough game. Zornotza have a solid three-game winning streak. They moved-up to sixth place, which they share with 3 other teams. Newly promoted Moron dropped to the second position with two games lost. Zornotza will face higher ranked Meridiano Alicante (#3) at home in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Moron will play against the league's second-placed Sammic ISB and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
