Regular Season Round 7: Liffey Celtics - P.Panthers 83-61

No shocking result in a game when sixth ranked Liffey Celtics (3-4) crushed 8th ranked P.Panthers (1-5) in Kildare 83-61 on Saturday. Liffey Celtics looked well-organized offensively handing out 24 assists comparing to just 11 passes made by P.Panthers' players. It was an exceptional evening for American-British forward Meagan Hoffman (183-82, college: Adams St.) who led the winners and scored 21 points and 7 rebounds. Aine O'Connor accounted for 18 points, 7 rebounds, 4 assists and 4 steals for the winning side. Four Liffey Celtics players scored in double figures. Liffey Celtics' coach felt very confident using 10 players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. American forward Tiffany Turner (185-92, college: Cincinnati) came up with a double-double by scoring 17 points and 13 rebounds (made all of her nine free throws !!!) and the other American import swingman Nicole Arnone (178, college: Molloy) added 18 points and 7 rebounds respectively for P.Panthers in the defeat. Liffey Celtics maintains sixth place with 3-4 record. Newly promoted P.Panthers keep the eighth position with five games lost. Liffey Celtics will meet at home higher ranked WIT Wildcats (#3) in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. P.Panthers will play against UL Huskies (#9) in Limerick and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
