Regular Season Round 9: Akropol - Lulea Basket 44-121

Damligan top team - Lulea Basket (9-0) had no problems winning another game on Saturday. This time they crushed tenth ranked Akropol (0-9) in Spanga 121-44. The game without a history. Lulea Basket led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They shot 63.2 percent from the field and made 18-of-20 free shots (90.0 percent) during the game. Lulea Basket forced 22 Akropol turnovers and outrebounded them 41-21 including a 33-12 advantage in defensive rebounds. They shot the lights out from three sinking 17 long-distance shots on high 68.0 percentage. Lulea Basket looked well-organized offensively handing out 28 assists comparing to just 7 passes made by Akropol's players. It was a good game for the former international guard Martina Stalvant (176-89, agency: Two Points) who led her team to a victory with 24 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists. The former international power forward Anna Barthold (185-80, college: St.Peter's) contributed with a double-double by scoring 11 points and 12 rebounds for the winners. Four Lulea Basket players scored in double figures. Swingman Katarina Milenkovic (182-91) answered with 11 points and 5 rebounds and point guard Maria Melkon (165-89) added 10 points in the effort for Akropol. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Lulea Basket have an impressive series of nine victories in a row. Defending champion maintains first place with 9-0 record. Akropol at the other side still closes the standings with nine games lost. Lulea Basket are looking forward to face Fryshuset (#9) in Stockholm in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Akropol will play again on the road against the league's leader Lulea Basket and hopes to get finally their first victory.
