Rather predictable result when third ranked ViVe (5-2) won against 5th ranked HyPo (3-3) in Vimpeli 72-62 on Saturday. The hosts trailed by 2 points at the halftime before their 42-30 charge in the second half, which allowed them to win the game. ViVe outrebounded HyPo 40-29 including 25 on the defensive glass. It was an exceptional evening for American swingman Lele Hardy (182-88, college: Clemson) who led the winners with a double-double by scoring 17 points and 12 rebounds. Her fellow American import forward Alexyz Vaioletama (185-93, college: USC) accounted for 13 points and 10 rebounds for the winning side. The former international swingman Henna Salomaa (177-89, college: Oakland) came up with 11 points and 6 rebounds and American guard Bria Goss (178-92, college: Kentucky, agency: Merit Management Group) added 9 points and 5 rebounds respectively for HyPo in the defeat. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. ViVe moved-up to second place, which they share with Honka. Loser HyPo keeps the fifth position with three games lost. ViVe will meet Forssan Alku (#4) on the road in the next round. HyPo will play against Pyrinto and hope to secure a win.
