Regular Season Round 6: Soles - Pioneros 85-78

An interesting game for Soles (5-1) which hosted in Mexicali one of their biggest challengers Pioneros (4-2). Second ranked Soles managed to get a 7-point victory 85-78. It was a key game for the top position in the league. Soles made 16-of-21 free shots (76.2 percent) during the game. International Roman Martinez (201-88, college: N.Mexico) notched 18 points to lead the effort and international forward Juan Anderson (198-93, college: Marquette) supported him with 14 points. Soles' coach used a ten-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Even 23 points and 6 rebounds by American power forward Justin Keenan (202-88, college: Ferris St.) did not help to save the game for Pioneros. American-Puerto Rican point guard Denis Clemente (183-86, college: Kansas St.) added 18 points. Four Pioneros players scored in double figures. Soles have a solid three-game winning streak. They keep a position of league leader, which they share with Abejas. Loser Pioneros keep the fourth place with two games lost. Soles will meet Santos (#6) in the next round where they are favorite. Pioneros will play against Panteras and hope to secure a win.
