We could consider it a predictable result in the game between close teams in Lugo where seventh ranked Araski AES (3-3) defeated 6th ranked Maquinaria Ensino (4-2) 68-61 on Saturday. The guests took control from the first minutes by winning first half. But Maquinaria Ensino won third quarter 14-12. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Arrate Agirre (175-93) scored 15 points and 4 steals to lead the charge for the winners and center Laura Pardo (186-89) chipped in 6 points and 9 rebounds during the contest. Araski AES's coach allowed to play the deep bench players saving starting five for next games. The best for the losing side was American forward Ivy Abiona (187-88, college: G.Washington, agency: Gamble Sports Management) with 7 points, 21 rebounds and 4 blocks and guard Tamara Montero (168-94) scored 16 points and 5 rebounds. Araski AES maintains seventh position in Group A with 3-3 record, which they share with Badajoz. Loser Maquinaria Ensino dropped to the fifth place with two games lost. Araski AES will face higher ranked Adareva (#3) in SC Laguna in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Maquinaria Ensino will play on the road against Cortegada in Vilagarcia Arousa and hope to win that game.
