There was a minor upset when 7th ranked Boomers (3-4) were defeated on the road by seventh ranked Dandenong Rangers (4-2) 75-69 on Saturday. The hosts took control from the first minutes by winning first half. But Boomers won third quarter 15-11. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Dandenong Rangers forced 19 Boomers turnovers. Boomers were plagued by 25 personal fouls down the stretch. The best player for the winners was international forward Sara Blicavs (188-93) who scored 16 points and 9 rebounds. American forward Annalise Pickrel (190-92, college: Michigan St., agency: LBM Management) chipped in 11 points and 8 rebounds. Four Dandenong Rangers players scored in double figures. The former international swingman Tess Madgen (180-90) produced 21 points and 4 assists and American guard Brittany Smart (175-85, college: Cedarville) added 18 points respectively for the guests. Dandenong Rangers moved-up to fourth place, which they share with Perth. Loser Boomers keep the seventh position with four games lost. Dandenong Rangers will face Perth Lynx (#4) on the road in the next round. Boomers will play against Townsville Fire and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
