Regular Season Round 9: Toyota A. - Toyota B SR 57-55

The most exciting game of round 9 in the WJBL took place in Nagoya. This derby game ended with only two-point defeat on the road of 6th ranked Toyota B SR (4-5) to fourth ranked Toyota A. (7-2) 57-55 on Saturday evening. The hosts trailed by 2 points after first quarter, but they rallied back to get the 4-point lead at the halftime and eventually won the game 57-55. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when Toyota A. made 7 blocks. International guard Yuko Oga (170-82) stepped up and scored 18 points for the winners and international forward Mika Kurihara (178-89) chipped in 12 points. Toyota A.'s coach Don Beck used a ten-player rotation in such tough game. The best for the losing side was guard Yui Kawahara (169-91) with 15 points and 9 rebounds and power forward Sari Osabe (174-87) scored 15 points and 7 rebounds. Toyota A. have a solid series of four victories in a row. They moved-up to third place, which they share with Denso Iris. Toyota B SR lost fifth consecutive game. They dropped to the seventh position with five games lost. Toyota A. is again looking forward to face Toyota B SR (#7) in Aichi in the next round. Toyota B SR will have a break next round.
