Xinjiang (8-1) recorded its first loss on the court of second ranked Beijing Great Wall on Saturday night. Visitors were rolled over by Beijing Great Wall 87-65. It ended at the same time the four-game winning streak of Xinjiang. It may be a crucial game in the contest for the top position in the league. The game without a history. Beijing Great Wall led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. Beijing Great Wall outrebounded Xinjiang 39-20 including a 27-13 advantage in defensive rebounds. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists comparing to just 5 passes made by Xinjiang's players. American center Sylvia Fowles (198-85, college: LSU) stepped up and scored 20 points and 8 rebounds (perfect from the field making all nine shots !!!) for the winners and international forward Ting Shao (183-89) chipped in 16 points and 8 assists. Four Beijing Great Wall players scored in double figures. The best for the losing side was American center Tina Charles (193-88, college: Connecticut) with 30 points and 6 rebounds and power forward Lin Hua (187-86) scored 13 points and 6 rebounds. Beijing Great Wall maintains second place with 6-3 record behind leader Xinjiang. Newly promoted Xinjiang still keeps top position with one game lost. Beijing Great Wall will meet Shenyang Golden Lions (#3) in the next round, which may be the game of the day. Xinjiang will play against Liaoning Hengye in Anshan and hope to secure a win.
