Everything could happen at the game between two tied teams. Both ninth ranked Empoli and 10th ranked Salerno had identical 1-2 record. This time Empoli used a home court advantage and outleveled the opponent from Salerno 81-43 on Sunday night. The game without a history. Empoli led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They dominated down low during the game scoring 52 of its points in the paint compared to Salerno's 26. Empoli forced 32 Salerno turnovers and outrebounded them 46-35 including a 19-6 advantage in offensive rebounds. Czech center Klara Pochobradska (186-89) stepped up and scored 18 points and 7 rebounds for the winners and forward Guia Sesoldi (180-87) chipped in 10 points and 9 rebounds. Forward Annalaura Patera (182-97) responded with 12 points and 9 rebounds and Alessia De Mitri scored 10 points and 5 rebounds. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Empoli (2-2) moved-up to eighth place in A2. Loser Salerno dropped to the eleventh position with three games lost. Empoli will face higher ranked San Pietro (#3) on the road in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Salerno will play against Palermo (#7) and hope to win that game.
