Third-ranked New Zealand Breakers (4-4) gave a tough game to leader United (9-0) in Melbourne on Sunday. United managed to secure only one-point victory 87-86. However their fans expected easier game. It ended at the same time the three-game winning streak of New Zealand Breakers. New Zealand Breakers were trailing by 5 points at halftime but managed to get 6-point lead after three quarters before a 25-18 charge of United, which allowed them to win the game. 24 personal fouls committed by New Zealand Breakers helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. American guard Stephen Holt (193-91, college: St.Mary's, CA) stepped up and scored 21 points and 7 rebounds for the winners and the former international guard Chris Goulding (192-88) chipped in 21 points and 5 rebounds.
