No shocking result in a game when sixth ranked Real Madrid (4-1) defeated on the road 14th ranked Asefa Estudiantes (1-4) 80-75 on Sunday. The guests trailed by 4 points after first quarter, but they rallied back to get the 7-point lead at the halftime and eventually won the game 80-75. The best player for the winners was American forward Trey Thompkins (208-90, college: Georgia) who scored 12 points and 9 rebounds. The former international point guard Sergio Rodriguez (191-86) chipped in 15 points. Four Real Madrid players scored in double figures. Real Madrid's coach Pablo Laso used an eleven-player rotation in such tough game. Forward Juancho Hernangomez (198-95) produced a double-double by scoring 16 points and 14 rebounds and guard Jaime Fernandez (186-93) added 16 points respectively for the hosts. The victory was the fourth consecutive win for Real Madrid. Defending champion moved-up to third place, which they share with 3 other teams. Loser Asefa Estudiantes dropped to the thirteenth position with four games lost. Real Madrid will face La Bruixa d'Or (#12) in Manresa in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Asefa Estudiantes will play at home against FIATC Joventut and hope to win that game.
