Regular Season Round 6: Giorgo Tesi PT - AV Cantu 95-89

Not a big story in a game in Pistoia where 14th ranked AV Cantu (1-5) was defeated by fourth ranked Giorgo Tesi PT (5-1) 95-89. However just six-point win is not that big difference and the fans of host team counted on more convincing victory. The hosts took control from the first minutes by winning first half. But AV Cantu won third quarter 24-19. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. The game was decided in the last minutes when Giorgo Tesi PT won last quarter 31-27. Their players were unselfish on offense dishing 23 assists. Americans were the main players on the court. It was a good game for guard Preston Knowles (187-89, college: Louisville) who led his team to a victory with 21 points and 8 assists. Center Alex Kirk (211-91, college: N.Mexico) contributed with 22 points for the winners. Giorgo Tesi PT's coach Vincenzo Esposito allowed to play the deep bench players saving starting five for next games. Forward LaQuinton Ross (203-92, college: Ohio St.) replied with a double-double by scoring 18 points and 10 rebounds and power forward Jared Berggren (208-90, college: Wisconsin, agency: Priority Sports) added 18 points and 10 rebounds in the effort for AV Cantu. Five Giorgo Tesi PT and four AV Cantu players scored in double figures. Giorgo Tesi PT keeps a position of league leader, which they share with EA7 Armani. AV Cantu at the other side dropped to the thirteenth place with five games lost. Giorgo Tesi PT's next round opponent will be Juvecaserta (#8) in Caserta and are hoping to win another game. AV Cantu will play at home against Scandone AV (#12) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
