Regular Season Round 3: Qingdao E. - Jiangsu D. 125-124

A very close game took place in Qingdao between Qingdao Eagles and Jiangsu Dragons. Qingdao Eagles (1-2) got a very close home victory over Jiangsu Dragons (0-3). Qingdao Eagles managed to escape with a 1-point win 125-124 on Sunday evening. The hosts were tied at the half but managed to speed up in last two quarters eventually winning the game. Qingdao Eagles made 26-of-31 free shots (83.9 percent) during the game. They shot the lights out from three sinking 15 long-distance shots on high 55.6 percentage. Qingdao Eagles looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists. It was a great evening for American point guard Jonathan Gibson (188-87, college: N.Mexico St., agency: Three Eye Sports) who led his team to a victory scoring 37 points (!!!), 7 rebounds and 5 assists. His fellow American import center Alan Williams (203-93, college: UCSB) helped adding 25 points, 12 rebounds and 4 assists (went 9 for 9 at the free throw line !!!). Qingdao Eagles' coach XiaoBin Gong used an eleven-player rotation in such tough game. The best for the losing side was American swingman MarShon Brooks (196-89, college: Providence) with 49 points (!!!), 6 assists and 4 steals (on 20-of-26 shooting from the field) and the former international forward Lin Chang (206-88, college: Long Beach St.) scored 12 points and 9 rebounds. Both teams had five players each who scored in double figures. Qingdao Eagles will meet Sichuan BW (#3) on the road in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Jiangsu Dragons will play against Shanxi Zhongyu (#20) in Taiyuan and hope to get finally their first victory.
