The game in Melbourne was also worth to mention about. Third ranked SEQ (5-2) played at the court of 7th ranked Boomers (3-4). SEQ defeated Boomers 78-63. It looked good early as Boomers took a 4-point small lead at the end of first quarter. But then SEQ had a 30-11 second period charge getting the lead and Boomers were not able to take back game control losing it eventually 63-78. SEQ forced 24 Boomers turnovers. Guard Lauren Mansfield (170-89, college: Iowa St.) nailed 17 points, 8 assists and 4 steals for the winning side and Nigerian-American Ify Ibekwe (187-89, college: Arizona, agency: LBM Management) accounted for 20 points. Four SEQ players scored in double figures. The former international center Elyse Penaluna (193-88) came up with 9 points, 14 rebounds, 4 assists and 4 blocks and international swingman Alice Kunek (187-91) added 17 points respectively for Boomers in the defeat. SEQ keeps a position of league leader, which they share with Sydney. Boomers at the other side keep the seventh place with four games lost. SEQ will have a break next round. Boomers will play on the road against Townsville Fire (#6) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
