Regular Season Round 6: Gorizont - Olimpia 69-73

The most crucial game of the last round was the first loss of Gorizont (5-1) in Minsk on Sunday night. Hosts were defeated by Olimpia GrGAU (6-0) 73-69. It ended at the same time the five-game winning streak of Gorizont. It was a key game for the top position in the league. The guests trailed by 1 point after first quarter, but they rallied back to get the 5-point lead at the halftime and eventually won the game 73-69. Olimpia GrGAU made 18-of-23 free shots (78.3 percent) during the game. They also forced 19 Gorizont turnovers. It was a good game for forward Olga Kopylova (187-82) who led her team to a victory with 19 points and 6 rebounds. Viyaleta Kiuliak (188-96) contributed with 14 points and 8 rebounds for the winners. Forward Nadzeya Nadzezhka (180-87) replied with 19 points and 6 rebounds (went 9 for 9 at the free throw line !!!) and center Olga Vashkevich (189-88) added 17 points and 7 rebounds in the effort for Gorizont. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. Olimpia GrGAU have an impressive six-game winning streak. They keep a position of league leader, which they share with Tsmoki-Minsk. Gorizont at the other side dropped to the third place with one game lost. Olimpia GrGAU's supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will face at home their local rival from Grodno Victoria.
